Dr. Mummery explains that the main benefit of having fluoride in water is that it prevents tooth decay, with people residing in areas that include fluoride in their water having 20–40% less tooth decay. And the benefits extend to people of all ages; older people are keeping their teeth longer and younger people are experiencing better overall oral hygiene.
